When a small group of parents, family members, teachers, and university professionals came together to form Pennsylvania’s Education for All Coalition (PEAC) in 2000, they had a discussion about what images could represent what the group stood for. Trish Creegan, the board Vice President, suggested the lighthouse because the organization is similar to a light shining out and guiding others, a beacon of inclusive practices.
The original logo, designed by Board member Colleen Tomko, portrays PEAC as a lighthouse with a weather vane pointing in the direction toward a “north star” – the dream where all children are successfully included in their neighborhood schools and communities.
