DESCRIPTION:KEYNOTE: Bridget Brown and Nancy Brown \n“DWELL IN THE POSSIBILITIES” \nMarch 11\, 2023 \n9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. \nCost: $25 per person due March 9\, 2023.\nIf the registration fee is not manageable then please contact PEAC at info@paedforall.org \nRegister HERE\nWe want proposals that SHOW attendees how to implement any components of the following at home and or school for individuals with disabilities including those with the most complex support needs and their family members\, educators\, and service providers. \n\nDemonstrate practices for integrating positive social-emotional healthy activities into classroom instruction.\nDemonstrate practices for trauma-informed support and how to navigate crisis management for school-age students and young adults.\nDemonstrate how to stay healthy using durable medical equipment.\nDemonstrate activities to manage anxiety for infants\, toddlers\, school-age\, and young adults with disabilities in the home and or in the classroom.\nDemonstrate activities for keeping the body healthy.\nCooking demonstrations that lead to healthy bodies.\nDemonstrate how to identify ‘good’ nutrition that is specific to individual needs.\nDemonstrate ways to present\, discuss and promote healthy sexuality.\nDemonstrate ways to nurture the individual spirit of children and adults.\nDemonstrate ways for the caregiver to implement self-care in a busy world.\n\nREQUEST FOR PROPOSALS – APPLICATION FOUND HERE. \nSubmission Deadline 2/10/23. \n\nThe summit supports PEAC’s mission to assist with offering information for the successful inclusion of all learners through collaboration with families\, people with disabilities\, schools\, colleges\, universities\, and other stakeholders. PEAC believes in an inclusive world where individuals of all backgrounds and abilities are valued members of their communities. \nThe keynote speaker is Bridget Brown and Nancy Brown who have worked to develop and implement organizational and instructional change for the successful education of students with disabilities in general education settings. \nBridget Brown is a young woman with Down syndrome who encourages people to “DWELL IN THE POSSIBILITIES”. She is a strong advocate of inclusive education and community living. Bridget is a national public speaker\, an actress\, and a person-centered planning coach. She helps people open their minds\, hearts\, and doors to include people of different abilities. Bridget is the second vice president of the National Association for Down Syndrome where she spearheaded a public speaker training program and a self-advocacy group. Bridget currently attends the UIC Co-Op inclusive college program. She works as a standardized patient at the UIC department of nursing & does presentations for the Pace bus company. She is the recipient of many state and national awards. Bridget is the co-founder of her organization called BUTTERFLIES FOR CHANGE. \nNancy Brown has worked with and for individuals with disabilities most of her life. She advocated for her daughter Bridget to be the first student with a disability to be included in her school community. She is a national advocate for community living options\, and inclusive education. Nancy worked with The Family Support Network\, Micro boards\, and was an inclusion consultant for Project CHOICES\, an Illinois statewide inclusion initiative. She is the co-author of Models of Support and Kid Konnections. Nancy and her daughter Bridget are national inclusion educators through their organization called Butterflies for Change. \n
